Structure Fire w/ Entrapment
Firefighters were called to the 600 block of
Edgar Street for a reported structure fire
with possible entrapment. Upon arrival
a crew from the 27 RESCUE found a smoke
condition from the Side A / Division 2.
A primary search was immediately initiated
in an apartment which was undergoing
renovation. Inside the apartment
a female victim was discovered
semi-conscious.
The team of brave firefighters removed to
woman to a waiting ambulance where she was
subsequently transported to a Scranton area
hospital. The survived the incident
without serious injury.
In 2001 the firefighters were cited by the
Borough of Throop for their heroic rescue.
Since the fire origin was of a suspicious
nature and there was an injury involved the
Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was
summoned to the scene.
