Structure Fire w/ Entrapment

Firefighters were called to the 600 block of Edgar Street for a reported structure fire with possible entrapment.  Upon arrival a crew from the 27 RESCUE found a smoke condition from the Side A / Division 2.

A primary search was immediately initiated in an apartment which was undergoing renovation.  Inside the apartment  a female victim was discovered semi-conscious.

The team of brave firefighters removed to woman to a waiting ambulance where she was subsequently transported to a Scranton area hospital.  The survived the incident without serious injury.

In 2001 the firefighters were cited by the Borough of Throop for their heroic rescue.

Since the fire origin was of a suspicious nature and there was an injury involved the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene.
