CREWS CATCH ANOTHER DC JOB

Firefighters from Dickson City and Throop were summoned to River Street in Dickson City for reported smoke from a structure.  Additional dispatch information revealed a heavy smoke condition from a single family dwelling as Police arrived.

     Within minutes DC Fire Chief, Joe Chowanec, arrived and requested "SRN" companies from Olyphant and Blakely.  As additional companies were dispatched the 23 Ladder arrived and quickly initiated their attack which revealed a working fire in the basement.  The remainder of the 23 compliment went to work just as quickly.

     Approximately six minutes (per incident log) found the 27 RESCUE "going to work" as the second due truck.  Firefighters from the 27 RESCUE went to the second floor for a primary search and ventilation.  The 27 RESCUE crew found fire had burned through the first floor adjacent to the staircase and a heavy smoke condition on the second floor.  After the primary search for life revealed no evidence of victims crews then vented the second floor.

     Inside the structure's second floor crews were met with some "unique remodeling challenges" that modified the entire layout of the second floor bedrooms.

     At press time the cause of the fire is under investigation and the PSP Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene.

     The fire displaced the residents.  There were no reported injuries to firefighters or residents.

     Crews returned to service in little over an hour.


AFTERNOON FIRE DAMAGES DICKSON CITY HOME

Firefighter from Dickson City and Throop were called to Pancost Street this afternoon for a reported structure fire.  Upon arrival crews found a smoke condition present from the attic. Prior to arrival special call activated Blakely and Olyphant for assistance. 

     The cause of the fire was not determined by the PA State Police Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene.  Crews operated for about two hours.

27 RESCUE ASSISTS DUNMORE ON INDUSTRIAL JOB

     Fire crews from the 27 RESCUE responded along with units from the Dunmore Fire Department to the former Thompson Electronics Manufacturing Plant. 

    As crews responded the smoke was visible for miles.  Dunmore Fire immediately requested additional personnel to the scene.  Since the plant closure it has been reported that the hydrants also were not functioning.  Tankers from Station 14 and 15 responded to supply the 23 LADDER as it rapidly extinguished the flames.    

 

Since closing nearly a decade ago the home of RCA electronics stood dormant.  It was reported that the facility was recently purchased by an undisclosed buyer and crews were disassembling non-essential structures outside of the main building.  Personnel on scene stated the structure damaged was most recently used as a cooling tower. 

There were no occupants and all workers were accounted for as crews went to work.

The cause is under investigation and there were no reported injuries.  Crews returned to service in little more than an hour.

 


DICKSON CITY FIRE LEAVES SEVEN HOMELESS

     As the sun set on Friday evening crews from Dickson City Fire and the 27 RESCUE went to work on a residential fire.

   Shortly after the alarm sounded fire crews arrived to find heavy fire from both the 1 & 2 sides of division 2.

   The fire at 701 Pancost St heavily damaged the structure and has reportedly left seven people homeless.

   Many of the residents were transported by Dickson City Community and Jessup Hose Co No 2 Ambulances to local area hospitals.  The severity  of the victim's injuries were not reported and a ruling on the fire has not yet been released.  Crews spent about three hours on the scene
